About Sandy Cyrus
I am the owner/instructor at Full Circle Yoga. I earned my 200 hour basic level certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in October, 2002, and my advanced level certification in 2008.
I am also certified to teach restorative yoga, with over 500 hours of advanced professional level training in meditation, pranayam, yoga for children, therapeutic yoga and Thai Yoga Massage. With a background in theatre and dance, I left a career in Marketing to return "full circle" to a life of creative expression and self-discovery.
My primary teachers are Thich Nhat Hanh, Pema Chodron, Rick Hanson, Tara Brach, Yoganand Michael Carroll, Bhavani Lorraine Nelson & Joanne Friday.
About Kripalu Yoga
Kripalu Yoga uses a three-stage approach to the practice of yoga, allowing for the gentle transition from a "willful" to a "surrendered" practice. Students are guided to move at their own pace. Kripalu style yoga develops the body, mind and spirit in a compassionate and non-judgmental way.
About The Studio
Located near the corner of Stillwater and Forest Avenues in Orono, Maine, Full Circle Yoga was opened in 2002.
A 500 square foot space, the yoga studio has a bamboo floor, stained glass window and large skylights that fill the space with natural light.
The studio building sits on 3 acres of residential property, redolent with fruit trees, a perennial garden, fire pit, hot tub and a walking meditation path.
We recognize the Wabanaki people as the traditional stewards of this land, and respect the enduring relationship that exists between them and this unceded territory.
About Swami Kripalu 1913-1981
Often referred to as “Bapuji” or “beloved father”, Swami Kripalu was a highly renowned master of kundalini yoga. A moving speaker, prolific writer, and talented musician, he shared potent teachings that still serve as the foundation of the Kripalu approach to yoga and spiritual life. “Truly the wise proclaim that love is the only path, love is the only God, and love is the only scripture. I am, in fact, a pilgrim on the path of love.”
